Snow in Savannah: Tuesday Morning Update

A rare winter storm is moving through the region today, and Savannah is preparing for a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Precipitation is expected to begin as freezing rain between 4–6 p.m., with temperatures dropping to 32°F by 8 p.m. Snowfall will likely begin later in the evening and continue through the night, with lows dipping to 28°F by early morning. The snow is expected to taper off by 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Current forecasts suggest 1–2 inches of snow, though some areas could see higher totals depending on how the storm develops. Additionally, a thin layer of ice accumulation is expected, which may cause slippery roads and potential hazards. South of Savannah, freezing rain could become more significant, with accumulations up to 0.25 inches in some areas, creating concerns for trees, power lines, and road conditions.
