As of 8 a.m. Thursday, Hurricane Helene is set to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a strong Category 3 or 4 hurricane. While its center will track towards Atlanta, the storm’s massive size means Savannah will still experience impacts. Here’s what you can expect in the area:

• Increased tornado risk today throughout our area. Take immediate shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

• Rain and possible tropical storm-force winds will continue through today and into Friday morning.

• Tybee Island could see up to 3 feet of storm surge.
